Eglinton crosstown LRT Delay

For a long time I have been calling for a Public Inquiry to demand greater transparency and accountability from Metrolinx and the Province.

In early December and as a result of my public campaign, a brave Metrolinx employee leaked an internal document which exposed their incompetence and lack of accountability. Among other things it states that after delaying the completion date once again during the fall election, they can't even approve a new construction timetable.

On December 14th I moved a motion (below) at City Council that was passed that also calls for financial compensation for residents and businesses, a free bus along Eglinton and immediate measures to improve traffic safety and hopefully reduce traffic infiltration into local streets like yours.

You can read more about the motion and council's decision by clicking here.

The Toronto Star Editorial Board has joined my call for Transportation Minister Caroline Mulroney and Metrolinx CEO Phil Verster to appear at the Toronto Council Executive Committee.

We are demanding that they provide answers about this 12.8 Billion Dollar Black Hole that has no end in sight and to provide provincial compensation for residents and businesses who have endured over 10 years of disruption.

I am pleased to say that we have already seen some results with the re-opening of the westbound lane approaching the Allen Expressway on-ramp as well as the deployment of traffic wardens that will be able to deal with congestion issues in real-time.

But this is nowhere near enough so I also urge you to contact the Premier and your local MPP demanding more action:
