Better Bathurst Street Initiative

As the local Toronto City Councillor for Ward 8, I'm very proud to represent Bathurst Street and the adjoining communities. Bathurst Street is both the heart of Ward 8 and the City. I have taken on the task of bringing the community and City together in a joint effort to preserve the cultural community history of Bathurst Street, from Glencairn Avenue to Highway 401, as well as improving and revitalizing it so that we can make it a better and safer place for all.

At our Town Hall held on February 25, 2019, numerous issues were raised, including: planning for youth and seniors, the need for better lighting and street art, outdoor cafes, increased green space, improving walkability, needing more sitting areas, and traffic flow and congestion.

To address these issues, my office is organizing four sub-committees. Each will focus on a different aspect of the Better Bathurst initiative.

  1. Pedestrian Safety

  2. Public Realm

  3. Environment (i.e. expanding natural green spaces and sustainability)

  4. Security
